So, I thought I'd just post some pics and thoughts from the last week:
* There was a Harley event at The Barefoot Beach Bar last Saturday.
I went down and grabbed some dinner, just to see what was going on.
There were people playing horse shoes.
About 15 or 20 bikes in the parking lot.
They were selling T-Shirts and Harley stuff.
Pretty much just like Bike Week at Daytona Beach.....I guess.
* My favorite part of the evening was this little guy:
This wiener dog stared that man down the entire time I was there. I suppose the dog lives at the bar. The servers practically walked right over him, but he rarely broke his gaze on the guy with the burger. He never got a bite, by the way.
* Later in the week, I went for lunch at another bar and chatted with a young couple from Canada and the woman tending the counter. Before long, the talk turned to of all things, wiener dogs! The woman behind the counter owned two and so did the couple (Frank and Frankie!). They were showing pictures and talking about how they dress them up. I told them about the wiener dog at Barefoot (it's the only wiener dog story I could come up with to stay in the conversation!) I've often wondered what people talk about at bars.....wiener dogs, apparently!
* This yacht has been parked in the harbor for a few days.
I thought it was big till I saw this one.
That little red thing on the back is a helicopter. * I had a couple stop and ask me for directions to someplace in the village and I could give them!
* I walked into a shop yesterday and one of the other customers called out, 'Lorry!' Turned out to be one of the yoga ladies, but it took me by surprise.
* Like I said, it's been raining a lot. I got some windy shots, in between raindrops.
* I went to Wendy's restaurant on Friday. (I didn't have Cow Foot Stew....wasn't on the menu today. lol)
It was just like eating at a Wendy's at home, EXCEPT:
There was no drive thru.
I ate on the veranda and not in my car.
My grilled chicken meal looked like this
and not this.
AND, it only cost $13BD.....that's $6.50 US! That's cheaper than a 'value' meal at the fast food version.* Lest you think the world is all sunshine and rainbows, it's not - Rocky says so. I have been feeling a little blah the last few days.
I figured I should say this so you don't think I just picked up, came down here for a month and everything was wonderful all the time. That's not realistic and I didn't expect it to be that way. When you go somewhere, you take yourself with you - my 'self' is prone to ups and downs.
So yeah, there are moments of feeling blah, a little homesick, a touch of anxiety, even some guilt. I think of things I should be - or could be - doing at home ....or people I miss seeing...and it gets me down.
Overall though, things are going great. Switching my agenda around a bit to accommodate a few showery mornings isn't the end of the world. I'm still getting the 'live a different life' experience I was looking for and enjoying it a lot. If you think about it, even if life WERE all 'sunshine and rainbows', to get the rainbows at some point it would still have to rain.
.

Hang in there, fake it till you make it! so proud of you!
